"In space..." Acrylics on a wooden board, Sci-fi, Alien fan art

Well well, I got out of the shell and just blow my head away.
I had this wooden board for a while now, I already draw the Alien head on it with pencil.
So I just stared at it a few days ago and said in my head "why not?"
Took it, drew the lines with a black marker and started painting.

I love the end result and I really can't wait till I have another idea for the same elaboration... I have couple of other wooden boards laying around and to tell you all the truth, it's sooooo much fun painting with acrylics on wood. I can't really put my finger on it... but it was a fantastic time working on it.

I still didn't measure it but it is around 40x18cm by just looking at it.

What do you think?
Should I go with this style for a bit?
Do you have any ideas in mind that you would like to see?

"Tunnel" - Acrylics, Abstract, Flames

"Tunnel"
50x50cm
Acrylics on canvas

A bit of a different style, I worked on this 3 times.
First session was about the background and the circle itself. Frankly the idea came to me in a raw vision when I was preparing to go to sleep. So once it dropped itself in my head, I dropped it on the canvas 10 minutes later. I knew if I will go to sleep before the I give it some kind of life, it will be gone.
the second session was all about the flames on the outer circle, which was at that time, the only thing done.
The last session was all the rest, the drops and the other circles inside.
The colors I used where base yellow, base red, black and a bit of white. Sometimes used pure and the other times mixed.

And sorry for the delay on the post :(

"Under" - Acrylics, paper mash, Abstract art.

Here's something I made couple of months ago, it was an experiment with different textures and I do think it came out interesting.
Some people see a bridge or hell there but I personally saw something more like the core of earth.
It was a blast to make, I got messy with glue and toilet paper! I think it's something I missed out when I was a kid, so I guess it's better late then never.

On another note, I'm still working on couple of paintings but these past weeks and the next will be really full for me. No worries though, I will still post every Monday.

"Eagle" - Acrylics, Dripping art, splashing, abstract art. WWF Eagles

It's Monday again and what can be a better start than finishing a new painting?

 40x30cm
Acrylics on canvas

I continued with my splattering technique with this one and I am working on couple of other paintings from the same series.

All of which including animals as it seems.

Not sure why, when I start a painting I really do not know what will come out of them. Sometimes I have a clear idea but in the middle I change it and in the end I get a totally different thing. As I draw the first lines I look at the painting and the first thing that pops into my head... I go with it. this way I'm almost always satisfied with what I finish up with. Same thing I had here. I used a bit of Light paste as you may see in the bottom and around. This is the point where I went with the idea of an eagle.

As for the colors I used:
The green was just a color I love very much and I wanted to finally get my way and use it. I am thinking of playing around with this technique more.
I also have some yellows in, Silver, white and black.

I really do enjoy making these, even though my hand and fingers hurt for 2 days later. It's worth it!

"Heaven Bird" - Acrylics, dripping art, abstract.

Acrylics on canvas 40x30
"Heaven Bird"

A new technique that happened to drop in my brain...

Alright, this painting got some layers of history in it. First of all, The canvas was worked on for the last 4 months.

  • 1st layer: Started out as an experiment with light paste for volume. I used it with no color so i could only work on shapes.
  • 2nd layer: ZE BLU. to face my fear and hate for this color I decided I had to use it! so it started... I added deep red and gold for the heck of it since i bought them and didn't want to let them lay in the corner all alone.
  • 3rd layer: after a horrid blue mash in the middle and spots of gold and red I felt I started the world war III in my bedroom. not as much for the mess, but for the anger and suffering. I was ready to pierce a hole in the middle of this canvas. So then I decided to add white and try and do a sort of a cloud mingling of the colors. it didn't look as bad as i though but it still didn't change the horrid feeling i had for this work.
  • 4th layer: After 2 months it was sitting in front of me I decided yesterday to take revenge on the damn blue and make it bleed. COVER COVER COVER. So here it is, lots and lots of splatter layers one on top of the other. And finally, the blue gave something positive to the painting, it became the background of my fingers pain.

After all the history I got with this painting I actually only now can admit: I loved evey single moment with it. But only because after all the "pain and suffering" I got a pretty damn nice result.

Cheers,
Dalia

P.S: Never, for the love of god, throw away your art. Even if you cannot even look at it from shame or anger [or any other reason], just put it away. Come back to it after some time, you never know what you will see and what crazy idea you will get from it.

Red, YELLOW, Green... GO!

"I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it" Pablo Picasso

A smart person once said that quoting others is a better way to express himself, so i am following his footsteps right now.

For many years now I had a great fear so to speak, from colors. Yes, colors. I had always believed black and white where the way I may express myself and I believed that I am very much terrible with colors.
Using pencil and charcoals was the way I do it, nothing else. Every time I tried to get my hands work with a piece of color, I just saw a disaster.

All that happened up until couple of months ago. I came back home from work and I saw my 7 year old blank canvas I took from my parents house and brought with me. In that moment I felt sad for having this little canvas laying around untouched for so many years. So... I decided to give it some company. I pulled out some cheap acrylics I also brought from my folks house and just covered it with yellow. Why yellow? now I suspect it has something with my mood and state of mind in this era of my life. It's just full of happiness and joy. And funny thing is, that it's the only color I felt could ever go with other colors. And well... most of the other acrylics where dry... maybe it was faith.

After about 6 hours of work, on this little tiny canvas, I realized I created something I never though I could.
It was an actual colorful painting, and I loved it. I didn't feel any discomfort with it nor fear while painting, just a lot of calmness and ever some joy and pride.

When I look back at it, I still wonder where did it came from. And if it was actually me who done it.
I do feel the yellow have freed me from my fear and since then, I've been buying more and more acrylics and canvases and filling them up with my light, my Yellow light.

Yours,
Dalia.
